Happy New Year from the Promise Scholars Team!
January is a time for new goals and resolutions, and we’re excited to continue supporting our students as they move forward in their academic and college journeys.
For our seniors, this month brings important college application follow-ups, financial aid completion, and scholarship opportunities, including our 2025-2026 Opportunity Scholarship. Our team remains available to guide students through next steps, answer questions, and provide encouragement as they navigate this overwhelming and exciting process.
We’re grateful for our students, families, and educators, and we look forward to another year of partnership, growth, and success. Here’s to a strong start to the year and continued progress toward our students’ goals!

Program Updates
First, we would like to thank the wonderful outreach team at Chaffey College and Mt. SAC for hosting field trips for our OMSD 5th Grade Scholars at Montera, Corona, Del Norte, Bon View, Lehigh, and Euclid Elementary. We would also like to thank CSU San Bernardino for inviting our 7th and 8th Grade Scholars from Vina Danks Middle School and UC Riverside for inviting our 7th and 8th Grade Scholars from Euclid Elementary, Central Language Academy, and Online Academy on a field trip to explore their campus. Additionally, we would like to thank Baldy View ROP for coordinating field trips for our OMSD 8th Grade Scholars at De Anza Middle School. We also hosted Financial Aid Workshops for Montclair High School and Baldy View ROP to support students with the FAFSA and California Dream Act Applications. Lunch Outreach occurred at Chaffey High School to promote our Opportunity Scholarship and share more about Promise Scholars to students. Our team facilitated 9th Grade True Colors Presentations at Montclair High School, showing students the importance of personality traits when determining college majors and careers.
We congratulated Clayton Carson on winning the 2026 Kia Soul through the 5K Reindeer Run Opportunity Drawing. The proceeds from the drawing directly support our students on their journey to college and career success. Thank you to David Choi, owner of All Star Kia, for his generous donation of the Kia Soul.
We presented Selena Soto, a 3rd-grade student at Corona Elementary, with a gift card on behalf of Promise Scholars for her help in picking the winning raffle ticket for the 2026 Kia Soul Opportunity Drawing during the 5K Reindeer Run.
Lastly, we awarded Opportunity Scholarships for students who completed Step 5 at Montclair, Ontario, and Chaffey High School. Congratulations to Victoria Morales and Vanessa Herrera from Ontario High School, Jose Huerta and Antonia Gonzalez from Montclair High School, and Yaratzi Torres and Ashley Valencia from Chaffey High School!
Class of 2026 Opportunity Scholarship
We are thrilled to introduce the Opportunity Scholarship for the Class of 2026! This exciting opportunity is available to students at Chaffey, Ontario, and Montclair High Schools.
The scholarship is a 9-step program, where students have the chance to earn $500 at each step. Complete all 9 steps, and you’ll be in the running for a grand prize of $15,000! Each step is crafted to support students on their path to college admission, requiring only proof of completion.

6th Grade Business Leader Presentations: Share your college and career journey and inspire OMSD 6th Graders! To qualify, volunteers must have a professional license or a college degree
9th Grade Career Exploration Activity: Contribute your time with use and our 9th Graders for a Career Exploration Group Discussion, where you’ll have the chance to discuss college and career opportunities tailored to your personality.
Financial Aid Workshops: Do you have experience with FAFSA and CADAA applications? Join us at our upcoming financial aid workshops to assist 12th Graders with their application process.
Annual 2026 Golf Tournament: Support our cause at our biggest fundraiser event. Help register our players and facilitate our many games at our Golf Tournament. All proceeds from this event will fund Promise Scholars’ OMSD students. – Save the Date: April 3, 2026
